FAQs
Below you'll find some answers to questions that we get asked a lot. If there's still something that you'd like to know, please get in touch and ask us a question
- Will there be lots of extra traffic generated?
- Will the development restrict access to areas in the forest I currently use?
- Won't lots of noise ruin our quiet enjoyment of the area?
- Will the course attract anti-social behaviour?
- Is it safe?
- Are there any economic benefits to Zip Wild being at Moel Fammau?
1. Will there be lots of extra traffic generated?
The course can only accomodate a maximum of 20 participants starting every 20 minutes. Based on research carried out on Go Ape customers, we expect the average car occupancy to be over 3 people per car. So, Zip Wild will generate less than 10 car arrivals every half an hour. It will take a maximum of 3 hours to complete Zip Wild so participants will be responsible for a maximum of 60 cars during the peak hours.
As part of the development, the car park wil be improved by adding 80 extra spaces and removing the barriers, thereby reducing the cars parking on the road.
2. Will the development restrict access to areas in the forest I currently use?
The course is set high above the valley, and so only uses air space, allowing unrestricted access below. The only fencing erected is to prevent members of the public wandering into the zip line launch and landing areas and to prevent unauthorised access to the zip lines.
3. Won't lots of noise ruin our quiet enjoyment of the area?
We have been careful to design the course away from the main areas of the park, and it does not interfere with any of the popular routes up Moel Famau. There is no music or machinery, the prevalent sound is that of people enjoying themselves.
4. Will the course attract anti-social behaviour?
During the day and early evening the reception cabin and the course are constantly manned by uniformed, radio linked instructors - which elsewhere have proved useful as an extra resource for park supervision and assistance to the general public. Every evening when the course is closed, the zips will be made secure so that unauthorised access to the course is prevented.
5. Is it safe?
Zip Wild will follow similar processes to Go Ape, who have a proven record of safety. Participants will be given a full safety brief before they get onto the course.
More than that, Zip Wild will help people live adventurously, and manage their safety in a controlled environment.
6. Are there any economic benefits to Zip Wild being at Moel Fammau?
Zip Wild will create worthwhile, well rewarded full and part time jobs. Also, the rent paid to the Forestry Commision will be reinvested in the area to improve faciliities. As well as this direct rent, Zip Wild customers will bring a secondary spend into the local economy.
